Roborough Rock

This is a pretty huge rock sitting beside the A386 as it heads out from Plymouth to Yelverton roundabout. Turn at the signpost left from Crapstone and the National Trust property of Buckland Abbey and as you cross the cattle grid the rock can be seen on the right, turn first right to find plenty of parking to explore the outcrop. The rock also sits on the old WW2 airfield of RAF Harrowbeer and a walk around this area is very easy as it is extremely flat, which makes it difficult to catch any views, although northwards you can see some of the tors of Dartmoor. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve visited this place as I worked at Buckland Abbey and drove past here many, many times. No military firing ranges near here.
